Bhubaneswar: In what could bring more cheer for employees and pensioners, Odisha government has decided to clear arrears pending on account of retrospective implementation of 7th Pay Commission’s recommendations from 01.01.2016

As per sources from the Chief Minister’s office, the state government will be clearing the arrears during 2017-18 and 2018-19 financial years.

While the state government has decided to clear 100 per cent arrears of pensioners, other employees will be receiving 40 per cent of their arrears during the time period.

Even though the state government is mum on the status of payment of rest of the arrears, sources said it is likely to take a decision regarding the same very soon.

The move is likely to be benefit nearly 3.5 lakh state government employees and over 2 lakh pensioners.

On March 1 this year, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered for a revision of salary for employees of State PSUs as per recommendations of the pay panel. Besides he had also announced a hike in remuneration of contractual employees by about 25 per cent.

It is to be noted that the state government in August 2017 had announced to implement the recommendations of the pay panel retrospectively from January 1, 2016 and employees have been drawing revised salary from September 2017.
