Bhubaneswar: Around 6,817 government officials have been booked by State Vigilance Department on corruption charges, informed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Assembly today.
Replying to a written question by Dhenkanal MLA Sudhir Samal, Patnaik informed the House that the anti-corruption wing has registered cases against 895 Class –I officers till September 30, 2019. Similarly, 798 Group-B officers, 3,535 Group-C officials, 193 Group-D officials and 1396 other government employees in the state have been booked for corruption during the same period.
All the cases are under the trial stage in the court and Prosecution Liaison officers have been appointed at Vigilance Courts by the State government in order to expedite the corruption cases against the officials, Patnaik further informed.
Meeting of Superintendents of Police (SPs) of various Vigilance divisions with the Special Judges of Vigilance Courts is also being held regularly to ensure speedy trials, the Odisha CM added.
