Bhubaneswar,17 Jan. 2019: The 61st Senior Police Officers’ Conference at Police Bhawan in Bhubaneswar has been inaugurated by Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma today.
Addressing the inaugural session of the three-day-long conference, the DGP stressed on intensifying anti-Maoist operations, inter-state coordination, and priority to intelligence gathering network.
DGP Sharma also asked the police officer to work with transparency to gain public confidence and cooperation. He also encouraged the fresh IPS officers to win the confidence of the people and get new duties.
The DGP also stated that the forthcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha will be a big challenge for the State Police. DGP Sharma said, “The Odisha Police have begun its preparation to ensure free and fair elections in the State.”
According to reports, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will grace the valedictory session of the event on January 19.
The three-day conference will see deliberations on different arrays of policing subjects like social media, law & order maintenance, crime control, Maoist menace, road safety, and digitisation of police stations etc. Experts will also deliberate the police officials on cybercrime investigation, social media monitoring and effective use of forensic science.
Superintendents of Police (SP) of all Districts, DCsP, Commandants of all Armed Police Battalions, Range IsGP, DIsGP, Under Training IPS Officers, Senior Officers of various Police Establishments as well as the Home Guards, Fire Services and Civil Defence Organisation, State Vigilance, Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation, Prison Organisation and OHRC are participants in the conference.
