SRINAGAR: At least 23 people, including four cops and four CRPF jawans, were injured when terrorists lobbed grenades at two different places in south Kashmir on Monday.
In Shopian district, terrorists attacked a police patrol party, deployed at a busy marketplace in Batapora, causing injuries to 12 civilians and four policemen. In Pulwama’s Tahab area, at least seven people, including four CRPF jawans, were injured in another grenade attack.
The number of grenade attacks has gone up despite a unilateral but conditional truce announced by the Centre during Ramzan. Terrorists have carried out at least nine grenade attacks in the last four days, causing injuries to at least 40 people, including several paramilitary troopers and cops.
“Around 12 civilians were injured in the explosion at Batapora area. A young girl was critically injured in the blast while four policemen also sustained injuries in the attack,” a police spokesperson said, adding that two of the civilians were shifted to a hospital in Srinagar for specialised treatment.
