As part of its ongoing campaign against corrupt personnel, the Naveen Patnaik administration on Tuesday imposed severe departmental punishment on 14 officials and terminated four of them from their positions.
Despite the fact that many of them were asked to accept forced retirement, the government permanently withheld all of their pension benefits.
Swarnanava Das, a former Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Lamtaput block in Koraput district, and Damodar Mahalik, an officer of the Odisha Administrative Service and a former Block Development Officer of Kantamal Block in Boudh district, were fired from their positions following conviction in a bribery case. Additionally discharged due to their convictions in vigilance courts were Manoj Kumar Behura, a former junior engineer, and Dilip Kumar Digital, a former forest range officer with the Boudh Forest Division.
Panchanan Barik, OAS, a former tahsildar, Prakash Chandra Patra, a former inspector of supplies, Prasanna Kumar Pani, a former assistant engineer, Dusmanta Kumar Nayak, a suspended junior engineer, and Somanath Panda, a suspended senior manager (Tender), were among the officers who would not be eligible for pensionary benefits.
A request was made for Naba Kishore Samal, a supervising engineer, Malaya Kishore Nayak, an officer with the Odisha Police Service, and Jayant Kumar Panda to quit from their positions immediately.
Prior to this, 173 government personnel had been the target of action. 187 officials have now received varying degrees of punishment for their participation in corruption.
