Dhenkanal/Jajpur,Dec.10: One person was killed while 17 others sustained injuries in two separate road mishaps in Dhenkanal and Jajpur district on Monday.
In the first incident, as many as 15 passengers were injured after a tourist bus, in which they were travelling, overturned near Khairamunda under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district.
On being informed, police reached the spot and rescued the injured persons with the help of locals. The injured persons have been admitted to Talcher hospital and Angul district headquarters hospital.
The bus was carrying around 45 persons who had gone to Balasore from Angul for a picnic. It is suspected that the bus driver might have dozed off due to the long distance journey.
In another incident, a person was killed while two others sustained critical injuries in a road mishap near Chhatia on National Highway 16 in Jajpur district.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. Reportedly, police have seized the body for post-mortem.
